PLU student Hadley Clegg picks the winner from our official contest recycling bin (sustainability for the win!). From left, Resolute staffers Barbara Clements, Sandy Deneau Dunham and Chris Albert cheer on the winner.
April 1, 2014
Our month-long “help us rename the magazine” contest came to a thrilling end today (How thrilling was it? Look! We cheered!) with the official drawing of our winning entrant.
Out of nearly 700 entries, Lars Tanaka ’09 was the lucky winner of a shiny new iPad. We offered to deliver it to him personally—in Hawaii!—but in the end we settled for across-the-ocean mail. Sigh.
Lars had suggested “Vista” for the magazine name, but we were a little concerned some other, ahem, large entity might have claimed that already.
We actually got a lot of great suggestions—and we really appreciate the participation. Take a peek at some of the ideas:
- Old Main
- The Thoughtful Inquirer
- PLU Today
- Rose Window
- Lute Salute
And dozens—and dozens—more.
In the end, of course, we chose Resolute—resolutely. Not only does it contain a ready-made Lute—it also perfectly describes one: admirably purposeful, determined and unwavering.
We really hope you enjoy your new magazine. And, even if you don’t have a shiny new electronic gadget, please check out the fabulous online version of Resolute, at plu.edu/resolute.
